The best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Fresh toppings and such tender fish. Plus my daughter’s quesadillas came very quickly which is great because she eats slow. The yummy michelada was a bonus!
We visited here last night for the first time and we loved it. The food was awesome. Our server was also very friendly. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend their Al Chilango tacos and paella.
I recently had a fantastic experience at Altiro in downtown Aurora! Their happy hour is a must-try, running from 3 to 6 PM, and I can't recommend their strawberry margaritas enough – they are refreshing and perfectly balanced. For just 10, you can also indulge in their delicious Al Elotito, which is a delightful twist on classic flavors. For my entree, I always go for the salmon tacos. They are simply divine! The salmon is cooked to perfection, and the toppings complement it beautifully. Whether you're there for happy hour or a full meal, Altiro never disappoints. I can't wait to return!
First time I visited this restaurant and I must say, it was a magical experience. Date night with my wife and I, I was taken back by the ambiance on arrival. Restaurant is decked out in Christmas gear, they have nice lighting, and the size of the restaurant wasn’t too large (intimate restaurant in other words). The food itself tasted rather authentic and rather tasty, serving size was good, food looked and tasted elegant. Wait staff was very attentive and quick Pricing is fair, overall I highly recommend this place.
Talk about flavors! We decided on the al guacamole and the al salsas for the app. The guacamole was topped with three different garnishes and the salsas, three different heats/flavors. The al carnitas and al shrimp tacos were amazingly put together! Elaina took care of us and was super kind and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Samantha “Bidi” Allababidi Altiro Restaurant in Aurora, IL, is a gem that consistently delivers a dining experience worth savoring. Located in the heart of the city, on an island actually, this spot exudes charm with its vibrant, yet cozy atmosphere, setting the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey that blends traditional Latin flavors with a contemporary twist. The Star of the Show today: Ala Barbacoa The Ala Barbacoa dish is, without a doubt, one of the highlights of Altiro’s menu. From the first bite, you can tell the barbacoa is crafted with care and precision. The tender, slow-cooked lamb practically melts in your mouth, offering a rich, smoky flavor that’s balanced perfectly with subtle spices. Each element on the plate complements the barbacoa beautifully — whether it’s the soft, house-made tortillas, or the sauce they offer. This dish manages to be both comforting and sophisticated, a testament to the skill and creativity of the kitchen. A Perfect Pairing with churros: Cafe de Olla To accompany dessert and finish such a fantastic dish, the Cafe de Olla is a must-try. This traditional Mexican coffee is elevated at Altiro with just the right amount of sweetness, cinnamon, and spices. Served hot and aromatic along side Maria’s cookies, it’s a cozy, flavorful drink that feels like a warm hug. The cafe is an ideal end to the meal or a companion to the savory barbacoa, as its slightly sweet notes balance the richness of the dish. Ambiance and Service The ambiance at Altiro perfectly complements its culinary offerings. The rustic, yet modern decor with warm lighting and vibrant music creates an inviting space for couples, families, or groups of friends. Whether you’re seated indoors or enjoying the patio during warmer months, the vibe is equally welcoming and lively. The staff at Altiro deserves special mention as well. Attentive and knowledgeable, they are always ready to offer recommendations, ensuring that your experience is tailored to your preferences. They bring a level of professionalism that elevates the overall dining experience while maintaining a friendly, approachable demeanor. Beyond Barbacoa While the Ala Barbacoa and Cafe de Olla are the stars of my meal, it’s worth noting that the rest of the menu is just as impressive. From their inventive tapas-style dishes to their handcrafted cocktails, Altiro is a haven for food enthusiasts. The Alambre Al Pastor and the Shrimp Al Tequila are other standout dishes, showcasing their ability to innovate while respecting traditional flavors. Final Thoughts Altiro Restaurant in Aurora is a treasure that brings people together over incredible food and drinks. The Ala Barbacoa alone is worth the visit, but when paired
This place is amazing! Delicious food and drinks, superb service, lovely atmosphere! We chose it because it is just down the street from the Paramount theater where we had play tickets. We tried the Ala Sangrona margarita, which was delicious. For dinner we had the Altiro and the Al CamaLeon tacos which were so flavorful and delightful. Then we topped it off by sharing a churros for dessert. Yum! The service was likely the best I’ve ever had. It was a great experience and I will definitely go back again. Highly recommend!
We stopped in for a quick bite before a show at the Paramount Theater, and Altiro absolutely delivered! Despite not having a reservation, they happily accommodated us—such a gracious welcome. We mentioned that we were on a time crunch and wanted bold, flavor-packed dishes that could be prepared quickly. Our server was incredible—she immediately offered spot-on recommendations for both food and drinks, ensuring we got the best of what Altiro had to offer without feeling rushed. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the drinks were perfectly crafted. The service was not only efficient but also warm and thoughtful, making us feel truly valued as guests. The atmosphere was inviting, with stylish decor and a cozy, intimate feel that made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re in Aurora, whether for a night out or just craving an outstanding meal, Altiro is an absolute must-visit. We can’t wait to return!
